Does 2020 feel like it can’t get over fast enough? Does 2021 feel even more daunting?

When we started this year, most of us had no idea the entire world was going to be transformed into a virtual world where we spend our time social distancing, wearing masks, hearing hospital numbers, death statistics, and figuring out how to limit our grocery trips.

All of this is exhausting. Overwhelming. Sometimes frightening.

If we let it take hold of our psyche. If we get lost in the news, statistics, fear, it can overpower our lives.

How can you move from surviving to thriving? How do you refuel yourself while still living through these confusing times?

Take care of your body and your soul

Nourish yourself with rest, water, exercise, focus on taking in positive content (or at least limit your intake of COVID-19 news to the essentials). We need to replace negativity with positive reinforcement. This is not putting your head in the sand, but about knowing what you need to stay informed while focusing on the present and a hopeful future.

Remember:

  • Drink water everyday.
  • Exercise in moderation.
  • Limit your news intake.
  • Eat healthy.

Change your mindset

Instead of thinking about all the things that are wrong, frustrating, and overwhelming, think of this as an opportunity. You don’t need to drive 15, 30, or 60 minutes to visit a family member or a friend. Your friends and family are even more accessible now because it only takes a moment to open a video chat or make a phone call.

We are not socially distant; we are virtual world with everyone at our fingertips!

Set new goals

2020 was a year of change, a year to adapt. Adjust your goals to embrace our life in 2021. What’s something you’ve always wanted to do? Is it something you can start doing at home?

Taking advantage of the opportunities this pandemic brings gives us the chance to explore more, take on new challenges and truly thrive!
